I think in my case, it gets "disconnected" every time my computer goes to sleep. It is quite annoying, and much less convenient than it was with Mavericks. Now, it seems that the connection somehow gets broken, or the "listener program" on the Mac stops, or something, and you have to go through the above steps again to get it re-connected. That is, it STAYED connected to my computer: as long as the computer was on, I could just go straight to the printer to start scanning. Scanners The Bonjour service names or MAC addresses of the scanners that can be used over the network are displayed. With Mavericks, I only had to set this up once, and I could then ALWAYS just go right to the printer to initiate scans. From the Go menu of Finder, select Applications, then double-click the Canon Utilities folder, IJ Network Scanner Selector EX folder, then Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX icon to display the Scan-from-PC Settings screen. At the printer, you should then see your mac in the "PC" destination selector. If it is already selected, you may have to unselect and then re-select. There should also be a button labeled: "Scan-from-operation-panel-settings". If you run this, your printer should show as one of the options to select. If you install all the latest Yosemite versions of Canon drivers and utilities from canon support site, you should have something called "Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX". I have found a workaround to trigger scans from the printer, but it is MUCH less convenient than it was in Mavericks. I have noticed the same issue you are talking about.
